The United Arab Emirates has introduced a notable decrease in fuel prices for July, providing much-needed relief to drivers who have been grappling with increasing costs due to previous global oil market disruptions. The Fuel Price Committee has lowered rates across all categories, including Super 98, Special 95, E-Plus, and diesel, marking the first reduction since February. This adjustment is a response to the recent decline in global crude oil prices as supply conditions have improved in the region.
Motorists will see Super 98 petrol priced at Dh3.40 per litre, down from Dh3.95, while both Special 95 and E-Plus will experience reductions exceeding 50 fils per litre. Diesel, however, has undergone the most substantial cut, with a decrease of 73 fils, bringing the price to Dh3.60 per litre. These price changes follow a drop in global oil prices throughout June, influenced by diminished concerns over prolonged disruptions to shipping through the Strait of Hormuz and successful diplomatic efforts that have contributed to regional stability. Brent crude oil prices have nearly returned to pre-conflict levels.
Despite the fact that fuel prices remain higher than at the beginning of the year, the July reduction offers some financial relief to commuters and families. This adjustment may ease the burden on household budgets, which have been stretched by the rising costs in recent months. The decline in fuel prices is a welcome development for many, as the cost of living has been impacted by fluctuating oil prices.
Analysts suggest that the future trajectory of fuel prices in the UAE will be contingent upon the stability of geopolitical tensions and the continued recovery of global oil supply. If supply conditions remain favorable and diplomatic efforts continue to alleviate tensions, consumers could see a more sustained period of stable or declining fuel prices. This would add a layer of predictability and financial ease for those dependent on fuel for daily transportation.
