On World Teachers’ Day, UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan paid homage to educators for their crucial role in shaping the future of the nation. He emphasized their enduring contributions to the development of future generations, sharing a personal memory of his own school days with a photograph from 1971 showing a thank-you note he wrote to his teacher, Ahmad Ibrahim Mandi.
The occasion was also marked by the recognition from other prominent UAE leaders. Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, lauded teachers for their role in building the country’s human capital and preparing future generations. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan reiterated the importance of education in the UAE’s progress, highlighting how teachers help young people gain knowledge, confidence, and ambition.
Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE’s Foreign Minister, acknowledged the pivotal influence teachers have had on the nation’s advancement through their efforts in fostering knowledge and readying upcoming generations. Education Minister Sarah Al Amiri further emphasized the essential role teachers play in achieving the UAE’s long-term educational and developmental objectives.
World Teachers’ Day, observed annually on October 5, provides an opportunity to honor educators globally for their significant contributions to education and society. In the UAE, this day serves as a reminder of the critical role teachers play not only in individual lives but in the broader context of national development and progress.
