The United Arab Emirates is set to revolutionize its education system with the approval of a new curriculum focused on artificial intelligence. This groundbreaking initiative will be implemented in both public and private schools across the nation, aimed at enhancing AI integration in educational and governmental sectors. The curriculum is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of AI, covering essential topics such as data, algorithms, applications, and the ethical considerations of AI usage. Additionally, a significant component of the program is the training of 22,000 teachers and educators. These educators will be equipped with the necessary skills to incorporate AI into various aspects of teaching, such as lesson planning, assessment, and curriculum development.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, emphasized the importance of continual learning for teachers to ensure that students are adequately prepared for the future’s fast-paced changes. In conjunction with the educational reforms, the UAE Cabinet has also introduced an advanced AI advisory system. This system is intended to assist ministers by providing detailed analyses of policies, legislation, and government strategies. With the help of 32 specialized AI assistants, the system will evaluate proposals, assess their potential impacts, study international practices, and offer recommendations that align with the UAE’s national priorities.
In another significant technological advancement, the Cabinet has approved a regulatory framework for autonomous vehicles. This framework is crucial for establishing procedures related to the testing, inspection, registration, and licensing of self-driving vehicles within the UAE. The move aligns with the country’s broader goals of promoting cleaner transportation solutions and addressing traffic congestion issues.
Moreover, the UAE government is making notable strides in its digital transformation journey. Over the past year, it has successfully completed hundreds of millions of digital transactions through government services and implemented a vast array of digital transformation projects. These efforts underscore the nation’s commitment to embracing digitalization in various facets of governance.
Additionally, the Cabinet has given the nod to a National Ecotourism Policy and reviewed the progress of the National Strategy to Combat Desertification for the period from 2022 to 2030. These initiatives are focused on the preservation of ecosystems, land rehabilitation, and the conservation of native vegetation, reflecting the UAE’s dedication to environmental sustainability alongside technological advancement.
