Tech-Driven Boost: Arab Stock Trading Volume Climbs 28.8% in July

Date:

In July, Arab stock markets experienced a notable surge in trading activity, with the volume of shares traded increasing by 28.82% compared to June. This rise brought the total trading volume to 261.86 billion shares, up from 203.27 billion shares the previous month. The Iraq Stock Exchange played a significant role in this uptick, with Egypt also contributing to the heightened activity.

Despite this increase in trading volume, the overall value of transactions saw a decline. The value dropped by 16.82% to $90.24 billion in July, down from $108.48 billion in June. This decrease was observed across several key markets, including those in Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Kuwait.

The performance of regional stock markets was varied during this period. Egypt’s EGX30 stood out as one of the top performers, achieving a gain of 5.85% over the month. Other regional exchanges also recorded gains, but the performance was mixed overall.

Meanwhile, the combined market capitalization of Arab stock exchanges remained relatively stable, showing a slight increase of 0.06% to approximately $4.31 trillion. These figures reflect a rise in trading activity across the region, despite the declines in transaction values and the mixed results among major Arab equity markets.
