UAE and Greece Forge €27.75 Billion Economic Cooperation with New Agreements

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Greece have significantly bolstered their economic ties with the signing of agreements exceeding €12.75 billion at the UAE-Greece Strategic Forum in Athens. Held during the official visit of Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, the forum also saw the announcement of a new €15 billion joint investment initiative aimed at fostering long-term economic cooperation between the two nations.

This strategic partnership, underscored by the presence of Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and UAE Minister of Foreign Trade Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, involves 18 memoranda of understanding, agreements, and commercial partnerships. The deals span a variety of sectors, including digital infrastructure, artificial intelligence, renewable energy, advanced technology, manufacturing, logistics, and healthcare, among others.

Dr. Al Zeyoudi highlighted the enhanced confidence in the bilateral relationship, emphasizing the importance of these investments in translating into practical projects and sustainable economic growth. He noted the complementary nature of the UAE and Greek economies, with the UAE serving as a global trade and investment hub and Greece acting as a gateway to European markets.

The forum provided a platform for discussions on key issues such as strengthening food security through resilient supply chains and expanding cooperation in artificial intelligence and emerging technologies. Business-to-business meetings and investment-matching sessions facilitated the exploration of joint ventures and the establishment of new commercial partnerships.

Overall, the agreements and the proposed investment initiative represent a concerted effort by the UAE and Greece to deepen economic ties and promote private sector-led growth across priority industries. The collaboration is expected to create business opportunities and encourage private sector investment, further solidifying the economic relationship between the two countries.
