UAE, Greece Leaders Explore Tech Solutions for Regional Security Amid Iran Tensions

Date:

In a recent phone discussion, UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis focused on the implications of the current conflict involving Iran on both regional security and the stability of international maritime activities. The conversation reflected their mutual concerns over the escalating tensions, particularly regarding disruptions to shipping operations through the crucial Strait of Hormuz.

The leaders exchanged insights on potential strategies to address these growing challenges in the region. Both emphasized the importance of maintaining open channels and expressed a shared commitment to safeguarding maritime routes amid heightened geopolitical tensions.

Beyond the immediate regional concerns, the dialogue also served as a platform for reiterating the strong bilateral relationship between the UAE and Greece. Both nations are dedicated to enhancing their collaboration under the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, with particular focus on sectors such as trade, investment, artificial intelligence, and renewable energy.

This recent call between the UAE and Greek leaders follows Prime Minister Mitsotakis’s visit to Abu Dhabi in May. During that visit, the two nations signed agreements aimed at expanding their cooperation in technology and artificial intelligence, marking a significant milestone as they celebrated 50 years of diplomatic relations. The ongoing dialogues signify a continued commitment to strengthening ties and exploring new avenues of partnership.
