Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Visits Canada to Enhance Strategic Economic Cooperation

Date:

Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has arrived in Ottawa for an official visit aimed at deepening economic and strategic cooperation between the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Canada. This visit underscores the strong bilateral relations as both countries seek to expand trade and investment opportunities.

Sheikh Khaled is set to meet with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney to explore ways to enhance economic ties, increase investment, and promote collaboration in key sectors. The discussions are intended to build on the existing partnership, focusing on sustainable economic growth and shared prosperity.

Accompanying the Crown Prince is a high-level UAE delegation that includes key figures such as Dr. Sultan Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology; Reem Al Hashimy, Minister of State for International Cooperation; Dr. Thani Al Zeyoudi, Minister of Foreign Trade; and Mohamed Alsuwaidi, Minister of Investment. Their presence highlights the UAE’s commitment to fostering strong international partnerships.

The visit follows a significant milestone in July 2026, when a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) was finalized between the UAE and Canada. This agreement aims to reduce trade barriers and enhance market access for goods, services, and investments, thus creating new business opportunities for both countries. The partnership is set to support collaboration across various strategic industries, including energy, mining, artificial intelligence, and infrastructure.

Canada regards the UAE as its largest export market in the Middle East, making the relationship a critical element of its regional trade strategy. Both nations are focused on expanding commercial ventures and attracting investments while strengthening cooperation in advanced technologies.

Sheikh Khaled’s trip to Canada follows his recent visit to Greece, where similar discussions took place to enhance bilateral relations and economic collaboration. This international engagement is part of the UAE’s broader strategy to expand global investment opportunities and deepen economic ties with key partners worldwide.
