Dubai is gearing up for its next phase of economic growth with an ambitious Dh2.1 trillion project pipeline, as announced by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. The extensive plan, unveiled at the Mohammed bin Rashid Leadership Forum, aims to bolster Dubai’s status as a global business and investment hub by investing heavily in real estate, transport, aviation, energy, and infrastructure.
Central to this development strategy is the creation of a “city within a city.” Real estate investments alone account for Dh1.1 trillion, earmarked for projects up to 2030. This includes the construction of approximately 350,000 residential units to accommodate the emirate’s expanding population and increasing housing demands.
Aviation is also a priority, with significant investments planned for Al Maktoum International Airport and the expansion of Emirates and flydubai fleets. The airport is set to receive Dh128 billion to boost its capacity to up to 260 million passengers annually. Additionally, Dh328 billion will be directed towards fleet expansion, while Dh18.7 billion will support a new Emirates engineering and maintenance complex.
Infrastructure upgrades form another key aspect, with Dh100 billion allocated for road improvements and expansions of the Dubai Metro Blue and Gold lines. A further Dh151 billion is designated for enhancing electricity and water networks, and Dh80 billion will fund the Dubai Strategic Sewerage Tunnels system. The strategy also includes a Dh100 billion investment in the second phase of the Dubai International Financial Centre, aimed at strengthening Dubai’s financial services sector.
Sheikh Mohammed emphasized the importance of proactive investment and long-term planning to meet future demand, highlighting the role of effective leadership in achieving these goals. The project pipeline is set to expand housing, improve transport connectivity, increase aviation capacity, and enhance essential services, thereby supporting economic diversification and attracting international investment.
