Musk Criticizes Trump’s Tax Bill for Threatening Fiscal Discipline

Date:

Elon Musk has criticized President Trump’s “Big, Beautiful Bill,” arguing it will undermine efforts to cut government waste and increase the federal deficit. Musk, who previously led the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), said the bill “increases the budget deficit” and “undermines the work that the DOGE team is doing”.
The legislation extends tax cuts, boosts defense and immigration spending, and slashes social programs, but is projected to add trillions to the national debt. Musk’s remarks signal a growing rift with Trump, despite his past support.
The bill now faces a tough battle in the Senate, with some Republicans joining Musk in raising concerns about its fiscal impact.
