Travel Abu Dhabi to Dubai in 30 Minutes with New High-Speed Seaglider

A next-generation Seaglider transport system is set to link Abu Dhabi and Dubai in just 30 minutes by 2027, offering passengers a fast, low-emission journey for around Dh200. Developed by US firm Regent Defence, the Viceroy Seaglider can carry up to 12 passengers and reach speeds of up to 290 kph.
The electric hydrofoil craft operates in three modes—floating, rising on hydrofoils, and flying roughly 10 metres above the water. Its designers say the Seaglider fills a crucial gap between boats, which are limited by speed, and helicopters, which face stability and availability constraints. With a payload capacity of 1,500 kg, the hybrid version can travel up to 2,600 km before refueling.
Regent aims to establish a production plant in the UAE to support growing regional demand, in partnership with the Strategic Development Fund. The first US manufacturing facility opens in 2027, with a UAE factory targeted for 2029. Early operations in the Emirates could begin as soon as 2027, thanks to strong interest from local customers.
In addition to passenger services, the Seaglider is being developed for freight, medical rescue, and high-speed mission operations. Partnerships with logistics companies such as Aramex and DHL have already been announced, underscoring its potential for cargo transport.
